Pumpkin Ideas

A new week has begun, and in my home everyone is counting down the days to Halloween!  We finally took the kids to the pumpkin patch this weekend to pick out their favorite pumpkins.  My boys have so much fun walking thru all the rows and finding the exact pumpkin they each want!  We always end up coming home with a couple of large pumpkins perfect to carve and then we walk around again to pick out more decorative pumpkins in white/cream, green, and mustard.  The kids have the best time looking for the bumpiest pumpkins and gourds!

We usually wait until the night before Halloween to carve or decorate our pumpkins.  Each of us picks out a pattern or carving for our pumpkin and my husband does the majority of the work.  I love taking photos of my boys during our pumpkin carving night.  The kids have fun taking turns cleaning out the pumpkins.  Their faces are priceless, and I know I will cherish looking back at these little moments as they get older.

I started looking around for ideas and different ways for us to decorate this year.  Here are a few of my favorites from Country Living.

This fireplace filled with carved pumpkins and candles looks like an amazing place to cozy up with your softest throw and a few pillows!

And below is by far the best use I have ever seen for a pumpkin!  This gem is from Everyday Dishes.  This is such a fun way to chill your beverage of choice on Halloween!

We would love to hear your favorite Halloween traditions!
