Throw pillow inserts made to order in every size we carry, in four fills — hypoallergenic down-alternative, two real down pillow inserts (50/50 and 30/70 down-feather blends), and a performance fill built for outdoors. The right insert is what makes a cover look tailored instead of flat, and it matters more than most people expect.
The designer rule: size your insert up two inches from your cover. A 20x20 cover takes a 22x22 insert; a 24x24 cover takes a 26x26. Lumbar covers are the exception — those take an insert in the matching size for a clean, tailored line.
Choosing your fill

Pillow inserts — FAQ
What size insert do I need for my pillow cover?
Size up two inches — a 22x22 insert for a 20x20 cover, a 26x26 insert for a 24x24 cover — so the corners fill and the pillow looks plush rather than flat. Lumbar covers are the exception: match the cover size exactly.
What is a down-alternative pillow insert?
A hypoallergenic polyester-fill insert that mimics the soft loft and karate-chop shape of natural down, without the allergens, odor, or clumping.
Do you sell real down pillow inserts?
Yes — two blends. 50/50 down pillow inserts are the plushest and softest; 30/70 down pillow inserts have more feather for support and structure. Both come in a down-proof cotton shell and every size we carry.
Down or down-alternative — which should I choose?
Down-alternative is the better choice if anyone in your home has allergies, or if you want an insert you can machine wash. Real down pillow inserts are plusher and softer to the touch; a 50/50 blend gives maximum plushness, while 30/70 offers more support and structure.
What sizes do throw pillow inserts come in?
18x18, 20x20, 22x22, 24x24, 26x26, and 28x28 squares, plus 12x20, 12x24, 14x20, 14x22, 16x20, 16x28, 14x36, and 12x48 lumbars — all made to order.
Are pillow inserts machine washable?
Our down-alternative inserts are — the American-made poly-cotton shell is machine washable and dryable. Down pillow inserts can be machine washed cold on gentle and tumble dried low with dryer balls to re-fluff. Outdoor inserts should be spot cleaned.
Can I use regular pillow inserts outdoors?
They won't hold up. Indoor fills absorb moisture and break down in sun and rain. Use a high-performance outdoor insert with a water-resistant shell for patios and porches.
